Solastalgia, a neologism coined by Australian philosopher Glenn Albrecht, describes a psychological state of distress one experiences due to immediate environmental change.

 

In 2014, numerous oil spills in the Galveston bay area kill and affect the lives of surrounding fauna - shorebirds and marine wildlife.

 

The video installation captures the early morning shores of Galveston and sunlight as it slowly passes over my profile - creating a contemplation with the body and terrain through moving stills and ocean sounds.
